The foundation prep work is just about complete and the underground utilities are being installed. It is crucial at this stage to check and double check all the conduits, piping, sleeves and penetrations are where they need to be. Once the foundation is placed we don’t want to have to cut trenches in new pretty concrete.
It is also important to properly fill the trenches and compact them to the same standards as the initial foundation. There have been failures on other projects with uneven settling above pipes. This failures are especially prevalent in parking lots and streets. We monitor the back-filling of trenches to ensure they are compacted in lifts and the proper moisture content is used to avoid uneven settling.
