This week the foundation is placed and is curing. The masons have set up jack scaffolds in one corner and they have stocked materials around the perimeter of the foundation in preparation to start the structural exterior walls.
Did you know it takes concrete 28 days to reach its maximum strength?
As the foundation is placed a testing company takes cylinder samples of the same concrete that is placed on site and stores the samples for 28 days. The testing company uses special equipment to apply compression pressure and physically break the cylinders. The machine measures the compression strength when the sample fails and determines if the PSI force is acceptable with the structural engineer’s specifications on concrete strength. This is a quality control method used across the country.
That’s it for this week’s update. Come back next week and we’ll see how far the masons get with their exterior walls. In the meantime, if you’d like more information about warehouse building or have questions on how to build one please get in touch with us by filling out the form below.
